On the Baix Segrià plain around Aitona and Alcarràs, thousands of hectares of orchards turn pink and white as winter ends, with the deep pink blossom of the peach trees taking centre stage.
What grows here
Irrigated orchards grown for stone fruit: peaches, nectarines and flat peaches, plus some almond groves. Aitona alone has around 3,500 hectares of fruit trees, according to the town's 2025 blossom programme.

Did you know?
Fruiturisme began in 2011, the brainchild of the then mayor, Rosa Pujol, and her deputy. They have since recalled that friends, family and fellow councillors initially laughed at the idea of showing visitors peach orchards in bloom.
