In the Campo de Belchite, a plain of cereal fields and steppe south of Zaragoza, rain-fed almond trees add touches of white and pink among the fields and olive groves in late winter.
What grows here
Rain-fed almond trees grown for their nuts, interspersed with cereals, olives and vines, with some fruit orchards along the Aguasvivas river. No reliable figure for the area under almonds in the municipality has been found.

Did you know?
Belchite's old town was destroyed in the battle fought there in August and September 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. A new town was later built alongside, and the ruins have been kept as a memorial.
