In El Bierzo, Corullón has around a hundred hectares of cherry trees spread across its villages, above the Burbia valley and among vineyards. The blossom climbs from the lower villages to the higher ones between late March and late April.
What grows here
Cherry trees grown for fruit: early varieties such as Burlat, picked from late May, and later ones used mainly for jams and preserves. Bierzo cherries carry a quality guarantee mark, and Corullón is regarded as their capital.

Did you know?
Corullón has two Romanesque churches, San Esteban and San Miguel, and a fifteenth-century castle. One of the guided blossom walks, the Castle Route, sets off from San Miguel itself.
