Almond trees on dark volcanic ground in western Tenerife, with Mount Teide as a backdrop, around Santiago del Teide, Tamaimo, Las Manchas and Arguayo. The classic route, about 9 km long, runs from the church square in Santiago del Teide to Arguayo by way of Las Manchas.
What grows here
Traditional almond trees that thrive on the volcanic soil with very little water. They flower from late January through February, dusting the lava fields and terraces with white and pink.
