Fields of lavender and lavandin surround Tiedra, in the Montes Torozos of Valladolid province. They turn the landscape violet in July, especially in the first fortnight, and harvesting usually begins around the last week of the month.
What grows here
Rain-fed lavender and lavandin, introduced in the late 2000s as an alternative to cereals. The flowers are distilled on the edge of the village for essential oil, and the distillery handles the crop from hundreds of hectares in the area.

Did you know?
In August 2019 Tiedra opened Spain’s first interpretation centre devoted to lavender, next to the distillery and complete with a trial field of different varieties.
